Starting from September 1, 2022, the retention period for Panopto videos and Zoom recordings that
are stored in Panopto Cloud will be changed, the videos will be automatically archived and deleted
according to this policy:
- Videos that have not been accessed in 13 months are automatically archived
- Archived videos are deleted if they have not been accessed in 3 years
Once a video has been archived, it will be restored for viewing from Panopto’s search results or by
using the direct URL to the video, the restoration process can take up to 48 hours, the user will
receive an email with a link to view the video.
The retention periods mentioned above are due to Panopto recently announced a new pricing model and we are intended to help us make better use of the limited storage available in Panopto Cloud. Also, the retention periods encourage the removal of dated and redundant recordings of meetings and lectures.
